Faiths Oven

I actually published this last year on my old blog,  I read it again and it spoke to me again.

A lot of times we want to control God, but He is the potter and we are the clay.  We want to rub him like a rabbits foot for luck but don’t want any part of what he asks us to do. We want salvation without having to change our lives. God said come as you are, but not to remain the same.  (Romans 12:² And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.)Think about it,  if we remain the same, WHY would we NEED salvation, WHY would He have died?  Why do we come to Him with request after request but don’t really trust Him? How do we trust Him with our request, but not with how He tells us to live? We want to CONTROL our relationship with God.

So recently I was at a women’s conference, there was a phenomenal speaker there named Lia Matthews. WOW did she speak truth to me. The title of her sermon was “Going into the Deep.” The way she broke down Going into the DEEP was all about salvation and the relationship we have with our Lord, and rather we are controlling our relationship with the Lord, or are we letting him have control so we can ultimately GROW! I related it to all aspects of my life. She kind of broke it down like this.

When one first begins a relationship with the Lord, most of the time we only go ankle deep in the water (water representing the Lord and our faith in Him). We step in the water, but we trust ourselves more then we trust God so we step in, but step out when waves come. We try and control how much of ourselves we give to God. You see, WE CONTROL it, we don’t let God control our way. Then there are some of us that want to know a bit more about God, we want to see more of what He can do so we go into the water a little deeper. We walk out into the water until the water comes up to our knees. We say ok Lord, I trust you! But our actions show that we still want control because as soon as another wave comes, we have more than enough control to run up out of the water because the water only comes to our knees. God is awesome and he ALWAYS proves himself, so of course there are those of us that are still curious to know more about that deeper wisdom, knowledge and understanding of God so we go a bit farther and go in the water waist deep. At waist deep we are exercising our faith on a deeper level, we feel the waves a lot more but…. we can still touch the bottom of the ocean with our feet. WE…. still have control. It takes a little bit more to have our faith shaken, but WE still have control in how we get out. How do we let go? How do we give it all to God? How do we surrender? WE have to dive into the DEEP! Our feet cannot be touching the ocean floor, we shouldn’t even be able to see the floor. WE let go of our own control and WE let GOD! His ways, His thoughts are ABOVE ours. (Isaiah 55:8-9 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts) Don’t you want to go higher? Don’t you want to go to another level in God? How do you go higher if you only have your thoughts your ways to take you there. You can’t. You HAVE to let GO of CONTROL and dive into the deep of Gods chest. Only God can take you to His thoughts, His ways, His miracles.

We block our blessings by wavering, stepping in then stepping out. (James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.) We block our blessings by lack of faith. We can’t dive in, then doubt what God already said he would do. It’s a sin to doubt (Romans 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.) That is HUGE, this is why we are to pray about EVERYTHING!! God wants to take us higher, but we have to be willing. We have to let go of what we think or know to be the way and let Gods way direct. Let his word be our light. I have so much more I want to poor out about this subject CONTROL, but don’t know yet how to put it into words. The Lord is dealing with me and I am so greatful, that blinders are being taken off and I can reflect. Praying to LET GOD CONTROL ALL ASPECTS OF MY LIFE!!!
